All of the designer collection MR-16 lamps are manufactured to exacting standards at USHIO’s halogen lamp manufacturing facility in Steinhoring Germany (near Munich). Since its foundation in 1968 this center of competence has been a technology leader in the field of halogen and discharge light sources.

This factory was the first lamp manufacturing facility in the world to be awarded the DIN EN ISO 9001 certification.

USHIO’s state of the art manufacturing facility incorporates leading edge processes and controls such as laser aligned capsule mounting to ensure lamp to lamp consistency and the best beams in the business. The factory’s metalizing, finishing and inspection departments are also tops in the lighting world.

Finally one of the most important assets of this factory is its people. USHIO employs some of the top engineers and scientists in the world in order to produce unique, top quality light source solutions for many different applications around the globe.

There Is A Difference

CONSISTENT COLOR - Titanium Oxide Coating:

All Designer Collection lamps from USHIO utilize a multilayer titanium oxide coating which is much more durable than dichroic coatings found on competitor’s lamps. The thickness and application of these coatings ensure that they do not crack or peel under the stress of high temperatures.

Unlike other manufacturers who only use this special TIO2 coating on certain premium lamps, USHIO manufactures every lamp in this process. This ensures that every one of the USHIO Designer Collection MR-16 lamps has consistent color from lamp to lamp throughout their entire life.

UNIFORM BEAM - Axial Filament Mounts:

One of the key components to achieving optimum light output and uniform illumination in a reflector lamp is the positioning of the filament. By using an axial filament (the filament is parallel to the length of the bulb, not the width) more of the reflector is used to control the light output and a more uniform beam angle can be achieved.

In USHIO’s manufacturing process a series of lasers are used to align the axial filaments within the capsule and again within the reflector before the capsule is permanently secured. This ensures that the light distribution will be consistent from lamp to lamp.

While other manufacturers may use axial filaments in their MR-16 lamps, USHIO is the only manufacturer in the world to use this unique and proprietary laser-aligning process to ensure lamp to lamp quality.

UV PROTECTION - Ultraviolet Blocking Capsules:

Every Designer Collection MR-16 lamp is manufactured using a UV-protected quartz halogen capsule that effectively eliminates harmful UV-B and UV-C radiation which can cause fading and discoloration of merchandise, artwork and décor.

UV-B and UV-C radiation is the type of UV that is most associated with color fading.
